How many poos are normal

‘How many poos are normal?’

Many people wonder how often they should be emptying their bowels. Ideally, food should take more that 15 hours to pass through your digestive system.

If you eat 3 meals a day, doing a “number two” 3 times is normal. If you eat 3 meals a day plus some snacks, you might even go between 3-5 times /day.

It is not healthy to only pass stool (No 2) once a day, every other day or even less often.
If we store our waste material for more than 15 hours, the excrement starts to rot and produce toxic substances. Food digestion generally can take between 24 – 72 hours.

Food takes 6- 8 hours to pass through our stomach and small intestine and up to 36 hours in total to pass through the entire colon. This means that we naturally need to go to the toilet at least twice -> better 2 – 4 times a day.

Also, when eating a meal/food your body normally has the natural urge to make space for new nutrients coming in, so feeling the need to go to the toilet 30- 60 minutes after eating is normal.

DEFINITION OF CONSTIPATION:

  • Medically – No more than three bowel movements per week
  • Stools usually harden in consistency and are difficult to pass the longer they are in the digestive system.

If you are eating the standard 3+ meals a day being breakfast, lunch and dinner plus snacks for morning and afternoon tea, then your body naturally should clear out at least 2-3times daily!

That means that the so called regular once every morning person is in fact Constipated!
The longer stool remains in the colon The Drier It Gets! And the more toxic build up we get.
