Dry Needling and Chakra-Puncture

These are both complementary medicine modalities offered at Total Health that use fine needles inserted just below the surface of the skin to support with health, vitality and well-being.

Dry Needling is mainly used when treating musculoskeletal pain, movement issues and pain management. Very fine needles are inserted into trigger points with the aim to treat muscle pain located in the connective tissue and to increase blood flow into the affected area. Increased blood flow is meant to improve the body’s functions and activate the body’s own ability to heal, rebuild and recover.

Trigger Points are areas of tight fibres located in our muscles that cause pain intermittently, consistently or just when touched and palpated.

Dry needling is a purely functional therapy and is not meant to address or rebalance any energy which other needling therapies do.

Musculoskeletal conditions that use Dry Needling are:

  • Acute and chronic tendonitis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Postsurgical pain
  • Repetitive motion disorders
  • Chronic pain problems
  • Back pain
  • Sports and dance-related injuries
  • Post-traumatic injuries, automobile accidents, and work-related injuries
  • Night cramps
  • Whiplash

As Dry Needling is a technique used to support musculoskeletal issues, it is often included in Musculoskeletal Therapy (MST).

Chakra-Puncture is a complementary modality where very fine needles are applied to the surface of the skin. It is not related to acupuncture and does not use acupuncture points. This gentle modality uses very fine, single-use Japanese-style needles on the surface of the skin (at 0.2 – 0.5 mm depth) to realign the body towards its natural harmonious state.

Chakra-puncture is a deeply relaxing and nurturing treatment. With the delicateness of the needles and the gentle application of the practitioner, many clients who previously experienced needle phobia, today enjoy regular Chakra-puncture treatments.

Total Health clients seek Chakra-puncture to support many different health conditions. Sessions can be undertaken as a single session or as part of a program. Chakra-puncture is also often combined with Connective Tissue Therapy in the Musculoskeletal Therapy sessions.

Chakra-puncture
Detox Program

One of the common Chakra-Puncture programs is the Detox Program.

This detox program offers great support for clients who would like to address unhealthy lifestyle, behaviours and patterns. It can support with eliminating the need for stimulants and/or certain foods, such as coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, drugs, gluten, dairy, processed food and sugar. It can be very supportive for weight loss too.
