Emotional Release and Stress Management

Stress, anxiety, and depression, although considered mental or psychological conditions, also have a basis in the physiology of the body.

At Total Health we support people to understand the physical and physiological aspects of stress, anxiety and depression and how this can influence our mood, energy levels and general well-being.

Stress, anxiety, and depression can be treated by addressing the underlying issues such as lack of energy, nervous tension and raciness, exhaustion, tension in the musculoskeletal system, difficulties winding down, sleep disturbance, and challenges in daily life.

These factors can then influence our food choices, such as consuming stimulating foods, (such as coffee and sugar), as we seek artificial forms of energy to ‘keep us going’.

Although stress may be a part of modern life, being aware of the effects of stress on the body is the first part of a treatment approach.

Total Health supports people to understand and address stress, anxiety, and depression through a range of different practices and lifestyle changes including:

  1. Natural remedies that support brain and body function to cope with and alleviate stress, anxiety and depression, sometimes without the need for antidepressant or anti-anxiety medication
  2. Nutrition, diet and purposeful exercise
  3. Supporting deeply restful and restorative sleep
  4. Building social support and meaningful connection
  5. Gentle Breath Meditation and developing conscious presence
  1. Supporting routine and daily rhythm, including work/productivity and circadian rhythms
  2. Self-care activities such as winding down, rest and rebuilding time, not taking on other’s emotions/burdens, saying no, setting standards, developing confidence and self-worth
  3. Deeply revitalising complementary healing therapies to support the body.
