Facial Treatments
Facial treatments and facial massage have a long history dating back to Ancient times. The Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Asian cultures all believed that emotions such as anger frustration, tension or sadness are stored in our face and over time, these emotions become part of our facial features and can reflect our state of being from the inside out.
Facial treatments therefore have been used over centuries to support human health because treating the face has an impact not only on the face and head but also on the entire body.
The jaw and the TMJ (temporomandibular joint) are areas where we store much of our tension as we clench our jaw when under pressure, causing pain and discomfort in the surrounding muscles. A large proportion of the general population experience TMJ problems with many additional symptoms and medically this is classified as TMJ disorders or TMD. This can affect not only the jaw and opening and closing the mouth but also cause headaches, migraines, earaches, toothaches, facial pain, jaw popping, Arthritis in the joint and Malocclusion (when the teeth don’t align together).
Clients look for support when they experience problems like clenching or grinding teeth which often come hand-in-hand with long term stress and poor quality sleep. After dental appointments and procedures, because of facial traumas, injuries and accidents or after jaw dislocation, facial treatments have been reported to be beneficial.
With delicate and precise hand movements, these treatments are deeply stilling and relaxing, and clients often attest to feeling more open, deeply surrendered in their face and body after receiving these treatments. It is like having the mask that we put on for the world stripped away to feel our beautiful essence underneath as these treatments successfully release these tensions from the face offering the body a deeper level of relaxation.
